LOCK-INS IN THE FOOD SYSTEMS

What are the power dynamics, economies, narratives and policies underlying food system lock-ins? (WP2)

WP2 aims at identifying the preconditions and social dynamics that make it possible for creeping crises to continue escalating within the Nordic food systems. In doing so, it extends and contextualises the findings from WP1. Empirically, it relies on analyses of power relations within food systems, which have been recurrently identified as important contributors to maintaining systemic lock-ins. Empirical analysis in WP2 features social transformation dynamics, especially power dynamics, lock-ins, systemic rigidity and inertia.

Its objectives are:

Analysis of the distribution of power in food systems;
Uncovering the narratives of actors with power positions to keep food system structures intact;
Identification of the lock-in mechanisms.
